All squeamish folk, this is not the blog post for you lol! Some people like their coffee orally but I take mines rectally. I’m sure most of you already know of the many health benefits of coffee, at least that’s your excuse to be an addict. Unfortunately for me I love coffee but it doesn’t love me. I have a caffeine sensitivity 😦 However, the spasms that contribute to my sensitivity are not present when taken in the rear. But I do have explosive bouts of crap, literally a pound or two without pain.

Kwanzaa: Celebrating African Heritage

What is Kwanzaa

“Kwanzaa” comes from the swahili phrase, “matunda ya kwanza” which means “first-fruits.” It is a non religious holiday celebrating the unity of those in the African diaspora. It is a week long celebration which is observed December 26th to January 1st. It is intended to honor our African Heritage and culture. Kwanzaa was created in the 60s during the Black Power movement. This will be my first year celebrating and I’m ecstatic.

WHAT IS CUPPING THERAPY?
Cupping therapy is an ancient remedy which is now considered a form of  “alternative medicine”.  Cupping therapy is done with animal horns, glass, bamboo, porcelain, silicone or plastic cups. Philly raised me, Islam saved me ♥

ISLAMSAVEDME
AS A CHILD I GREW UP IN THE CHURCH
Not literally but when it came to holidays and maybe once a month on Sunday. I loved Christmas because of the gifts and getting dressed up every Easter wearing my best clothes, going on egg hunts when I was younger and to the carnivals as I got older. My family was not very strict religious folk but our faith in God could never be broken. I remember every night getting on my knees at the side of the bed and praying with my mother and brother. “Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the lord my soul to keep, if I should die before I awake, I pray the lord my soul to take.” But then I would see my father get down on a rug with his face to the floor… I never questioned him.

wpid-photogrid_1434390270412.jpg

A few weeks ago I was asked if I would like to review Buddha Teas. Of course I said yes, I’m an avid tea drinker! Naturally, I checked them out before I replied and was delighted with my results because they are certified organic. YAY for no iffy toxic ingredients 🙂 Of all the flavors, why did I choose dandelion root? During the spring/summer months you can see this herb (not weed) all over the place and the reason is… Continue reading

What Is Your Mental Health Status? — Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental health is so important yet no one talks about it. People get so wound up on this idea of living perfect normal lives. Well guess what? That is not reality. History has proved that going through a mental health crisis is in fact normal for BOTH men and women. There are people you may know suffering silently with depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar, etc but are afraid to speak up due to stigma. Understanding where you are in your mental health, knowing the facts about mental illness, how to get or urge someone you know to seek help is extremely important to recovery. But first we all have to admit to ourselves when and if there is a problem. Continue reading

Review — Michael Todd True Organics

Here’s to my first review, and hopefully lots more to come 😀 Having had this product for some time now I figured I should share my experience but let’s start from the beginning…

Acne or Oily Skin Regimen

Before Acne all throughout high-school up until 2 years ago I was not one to suffer from acne at all. In fact, my skin was flawless. People would always compliment me on my skin and even ask me for my regimen. At that time I felt beautiful. After I decided to clean up my diet and and get healthy, Ironically I started to get pimples and cystic acne. I was then informed that the cystic acne came from hormonal imbalance. This feels like post puberty revenge! What I used before no longer worked for me plus I was also trying to find better, natural alternatives to fit my new nontoxic lifestyle. This proved way harder than expected.
